OFFICIAL Card - Russia

Kate lives in Orenburg, Russia. She wrote me about what her town in known for and some other bits of interesting trivia. The view shows the Gostiny Dvor or indoor market.

OFFICIAL Card - China

Youling is a university student in Shanghai. He is studying Human Geography. I'll be honest, that is something I have never heard of and honestly can't even imagine what it means! Oh well, I guess it means you can teach this old dog new tricks. The card he sent shows the Maglev Train passing through Shanghai. My second new thing I've learnt from this card! More of the lovely bird stamps from China too.

Florida from Veronica

This Spring my sister had the chance to go away with her girlfriends to Florida. She picked these cards up for me and tried to find a post office with no luck. I am happy to know she thought of me. She had a great time and so did we! My nieces were here for 5 nights and it couldn't have been more fun - and easy!

OFFICIAL Card - Austria

Not everyday a card from Austria arrives. Anna sent this fun card showing many different views of Austria. Pretty country! The text translates to "Greetings from Austria".

OFFICIAL Card - Taiwan

Ann is a 22 year old student studying at Fu Jen Catholic University. She writes that she graduates soon and is hoping to find a good job. She made the card herself - nice job!

OFFICIAL Card - Canada

Kaily only lives 100kms from me - how neat is that! She is a supply teacher and works in a book store, she wrote me the most delightful message about her life. I just love when people share little tidbits of their day to day life (especially if they are a little wacky!) with me. This art card with some cute little sheep is an illustration by Simon Bening from this book.

OFFICIAL Card - Germany

Suse lives in Dusseldorf and sent this view of her local parliament buildings which she writes is near the River Rhine.

Jamaica from Al

One night at dinner my husband mentioned his colleague was going to Jamaica the next day. He didn't even think why I was asking for his number. A few drinks, a quick text and weeks later and this lush and tropical card arrived - thanks Al!!!

OFFICIAL CARD - Netherlands

Louise sent this fun card to me from Holland. I must say it is the only card I have ever recieved written entirely in gold ink! Some cute sheep stickers and drawings and this card sure put a smile on my face!

Random Act of Smiliness - Annemieke from The Netherlands

Annemieke and I have exchanged cards in the past, somewhere in our conversations it came up that my daughter loves owls. She so kindly offered to send her a few owl cards and lucky for me she included a few sheep too. Such a wonderful gesture on her part. Love being part of simple acts of kindness like this. Thank you Annemieke! She also used more of these neat braille stamps.

OFFICIAL Card - Germany

Marco works with school aged children and writes that he likes it very much. He also like to travel and take in soccer matches in different stadiums and he listed some of the places he has been. Lucky guy! This view shows Frankfurt, Germany.

Random Act of Smiliness - Hu from China

Lucky me - this is the third card Hu has sent me. The others can be seen here. This card shows the Chinese Zodiac and while it doesn't say, I believe it is the Year of the Snake. Thank you HU!!!!

OFFICIAL Card - Australia

This card is a beauty! Julia wrote that she has a source of different (and fabulous!) stamps. She tells me the gum on the back tastes awful. She proceeded to share what I found to be quite a humourous story about gingerbread men from the local coffee shop, laundry drying on the line and the threat of rain. Basically, one of the best cards I've had in awhile. Oh yes, and lots of lovely birds. Clockwise from top left - New Holland HoneyeaterSuperb Blue WrenZebra FinchRed-browed FinchRegent Parrot and a Sacred Kingfisher.

Postcrossing Name Stickers

I have long admired the various personalized name stickers people use for Postcrossing. I found a group via Facebook where you can order them. I decided to take the plunge and place an order - some for me, my kids, my sister and a friend who joined in. The hardest part was deciding on the design, which you can see wasn't one I made easily as I ordered several! Honestly, compared to other sites I have seen these were super reasonable! Can't imagine I'll need more in the Fall when the next one takes place but I am sure I will find something new. Plus, lots for my nieces for Christmas! Andrea, the lady who put all this fabulousness together used the most amazing assortment of stamps on the envelope.

It doesn't really show in the scan but all my stickers either have an iridescent shine and/or a glittery background.

OFFICIAL Card - China

This is a very welcome card to my collection. I only wish I had more subway maps, I do find them so interesting. The Beijing Subway came to me from Wang a geology student in Beijing. He chose some great stamps too - birds and Olympics - two of my favourite design subjects! He shared with me that he volunteered at the 2008 Games - fun!

OFFICIAL Card - Netherlands

Aleid sent this card and wrote these are images from where she lives in the northern region of the Netherlands. Loving the little sheep!

OFFICIAL Card - Taiwan

I do like receiving both map and flag cards. Funny thing I have received more of these from Taiwan than any other country, in some cases combined! They must be pretty popular to send or the Postcrossers must be pretty patriotic. Cindy wrote telling me the colours represent blue sky, white sun and red passion - interesting!

OFFICIAL Card - Taiwan

This is probably one of the uniquest cards in terms of how it arrived. The card was written and then taped view side down to a piece of computer type paper (that was kind of neat too as it was all in characters!). Inside the "envelope" was a brochure for an exhibit Jensen had recently attended at the National Museum of History in Taipei. Different!

OFFICIAL CARD - Russia

Nadia lives in Siberia - just saying that sounds cold! The card she chose for me is so pretty in it's simplicity. The flowers remind me of something you would make as a child.

OFFICIAL Card - Latvia

Springtime is Inge's favourite season. She wrote me from Latvia, where she states they have all four seasons! The view on this card is beautiful - love the gargoyles! The text on the back translates to say "Art Nouveau House, Albert 13", found this link to help explain it.

OFFICIAL Card - South Korea

One of the items on my wish list is cards to do with alphabets and typography. This card talks about the Gutenberg Bible and press and is part of a series. I've seen a few other cards from this line and would be happy to receive a few more. They must be produced by this museum as this is the web address on the back. Great card Sla - thanks!
