Greetings from Lithuania - Direct Swap with Justina

Justina saw I post I made in the Postcrossing Forum seeking out the new "Greetings From..." cards by PostalLove. She liked them so much she was going to order and wanted to swap when her cards arrived. I was happy to wait and she contacted me to finalize a few weeks later. She wrote me about some of the facts on the front and also telling be her country will adopt the Euro soon they are enjoying the last few months of their "beautiful" currency. I really do like multi views as you get to "see" so much more of a country. It seems like forever since I have received one and this one from Grita in Lithuania is great!

Random Act of Smiliness - Lithuania from Eileen

Eileen travelled to Latvia back in November for fun and a mini meet-up. She sent me this card showing Trakai Island Castle. It looks so pretty, even in the snow! Love how she was able to use a Postcrossing stamp issued in Lithuania. Thanks Eileen!

Rasa lives in Vilnius, Lithuania and sent me this card which I received on Wednesday. It took 42 days to get to me - wowza! The cards shows views of the small city of Trakai, which is about 30 km from her home. She wrote telling me it is famous for not only being the old capital of Lithuania, and having the island castle as pictured in the top left but also because it is the home of the Karaites one of the smallest ethnicity's in Lithuania and all Baltic countries. I love learning new things - thanks for the great card and lesson! And to top it all off a fantastic bird stamp. I really love when the sender uses the extra part around the stamp, sometimes that tells a bigger story.

Almost caught up on my backlog of cards - just a few left and then it is just current (received within the last few weeks) and swaps to get caught up on. With the kids at day camp this week, I hate to say it but I may actually get there!

This is one that I received May, 2011 from Gabija in Vilnius, Lithuania. She wrote telling me that she studies violin and music and also shares some of her hobbies.

Gabriele a 17 year old Postcrosser from Lithuania sent me this card which I received Wednesday. It shows St. Anne's and Bernardins' Churches as well a a panorama view of Vilnius. The churches are located in the Old Town of Vilnius and the district is an UNESCO site. She wrote telling me about her hobbies and things she likes. I really liked the stamp she used. It is neat to see another country's Olympic stamp, especially when it is the 2010 Games!

I know some people aren't too crazy for multi-views but I do like them as they give you a better insight to how diverse the scenery or sights can be. Olga a law student in Vilnius, Lithuania sent me this pretty vintage card showing a bouquet of daisies in February. The card was made in 1975 - almost as old as me - ha ha!

Violeta from Vinius, Lithuania sent me this card last week. She wrote about her job as a kindergarten teacher and her love of the sun and sea.  The card shows night views of her hometown.

Today I received this card from Rokas in Lithuania. He printed this image himself. It is of the Curonian Spit. He says it is a fascinating sight even though it may look like a pile of sand. Under the sand dune there are 14 tiny villages that were buried hundreds of years ago. It is a designated UNESCO site. The card certainly came with some travel lines but is a beautiful sight. The stamp - let's just say it is the first time I've seen a spider on a stamp!

Audra from Ukmerge, Lithuania sent me this card which  received in early November. She tells me Lithuania is considered to be the geographic centre of Europe and the country has much to see - castles, nature and the Baltic Sea.
