Ana, is one of Postcrossing Team members. She was holding a lottery for cards to be sent for the Postcrossing Meet-up that was being held in Prague at the beginning of September. It was part of a larger stamp fair that was being held. The "catch" with this lottery is they did not notify the winners...as they already knew our addresses they just sent the card. So, it was certainly a big surprise when I found this card in my mailbox a few weeks later. She mentioned in her post that she tried to have as many people sign as possible, however they were so many and scattered about. That is fine by me, I am just thrilled to receive this special designed card. They even has a special cancellation done for the event. Thank you!

OFFICIAL Card - Czech Republic
Daniela lives in a small village called Lesni Albrechtice. After reading that article it sounds very small! The castle in the view is in Ostrava, about 80 km from where she lives. My son would love to try that cross bow!

Greetings from Czech Republic - Direct Swap with Pavla
Now that it is summer vacation, my kids usually "fight" over who will go out to pick up the mail from our mailbox. On the day this card arrived my daughter brought it into the house and was already disputing one of the facts. "No way" was the Czech Republic hockey team better than Canada's! I might have to agree with her on that one. Another successful Facebook swap - thank you Pavla!

Direct Swap - Ondrej from Czech Republic
Ondrej and I had a successful swap last year. Awhile back he posted in the Forum offering cards of the Prague Metro. As this was a city I was missing I was happy he needed some of the UNESCO cards I had to offer. He wrote telling me there is a "D Line" planned. So much more progressive than the Toronto Subway. Another great Europa stamp too!

OFFICIAL Card - Czech Republic
Dalibor lives in Ostrava with his family. I like the card he chose for me - multi view and a subtle outline map of the country.

Direct Swap - Suzana from Czech Republic
I was thrilled when Suzana agreed to swap with me! She was offering cards postmarked with the special cancellation from Czech Republic. She had many cards to choose from which wasn't easy. This night view shows Wenceslas Square in Prague. She wrote the post office as pictured in the first link is just minutes from this spot. I didn't know that when I selected it - neat! I also wasn't aware this was part of a UNESCO site.

OFFICIAL Card - Czech Republic
Martina works as a florist in Prague. I have always thought that would be such a fun job! This wonderful over sized card she sent me shows views in and around "Cesky Raj" or Bohemian Paradise. She writes that she loves visiting and has been there many times. I can see why.

Lottery Win - Pavla from Czech Republic
One thing I discovered over the summer was the "Lotteries" section of the Postcrossing forum. I must say I do believe in entering every contest that crosses my path. My thoughts are simple - someone has to win so why not me! Over the years I must say I have won LOTS of things - all-inclusive trip to Mexico for two, movie and concert tickets, hair products, even the chance to carry the Olympic Flame!
One of the lotteries I entered was to win a signed card from the Chrudim Postcrossing meet-up held, where else but Chrudim, at the end of June. I love everything about the card - the shape, the coat of arms, all the signatures, the stamps and the decorative stamp they used on the back! Even without a message this card says so much to me!

OFFICIAL Card - Czech Republic
I have always heard what a beautiful city Prague is. Like so many places, I hope I will be able to travel there one day. In the meantime, this postcard of the Charles Bridge from Lea will help me to dream.

OFFICIAL Card - Poland
Joanna from Warsaw, Poland is #4 on number of cards sent from that country. It took a long 41 days for this night time multi-view to make it to me. She is an English teacher and wrote me during her mid-semester break. As the stamp and cancellation are from Czech Republic maybe she was on holidays (?). I have tried to Google what the various buildings are and am not having much luck. Maybe they look different in the day and the shiny light are throwing me! Anyone have any idea as to what these buildings?

OFFICIAL Card - Czech Republic
I received this card last September. It has beautiful views of Rozmberk Castle in Bohemia. Jana Marketa is a university student who lives in Prague and she wrote me about her studies, hobbies and the books she is currently reading. There is also quite a bit of text on the back of this card in Czech. One day I will Google Translate it all.

OFFICIAL Card - Czech Republic
This was the second card I ever received on Postcrossing. It came last April from Kristyna in Prague, Czech Republic. Translated it says - "Greeting for a family of normal" - maybe I am missing something in the translation LOL!

OFFICIAL Card - Czech Republic
Radek from Brno, Czech Republic sent me this card in September. It shows an aerial view of the Pilgrimage Church of the Name of Virgin Mary or Krtiny U Brna (minus a few accents) located in his hometown. Through the link you will see the interior views of the church which are just stunning. You will also learn more about Santini, the Czech architect who was known for his unique style - barouque-Gothic who designed this church in 1718.

Direct Swap - Karolina from Czech Republic
At the beginning of March I was contacted by Karolina to see if I was interested in a swap. This card I had recently sent caught her eye. Lucky for her I did have one more and unlucky for me I can't remember where I got them. If you can believe it, I have had two other requests since then! I received this card of her home town - Pec Pod Snezkou (no idea how to make the accents) in the mail yesterday. She tells me it can get pretty crazy during winter with all the tourists. I can see why the trees and snow look very inviting!
