Greetings from Spain - Direct Swap with Melita

Another fabulous "Greetings from..." card to add to my collection. This card from Spain was sent by Melita who responded to my post in the Spanish section of the Postcrossing Forum. I think of all the cards in this series this one might be my favourite. Not only is the image really colourful and iconic it is the only card that has a person not just a landscape/cityscape view. Lucky me I was the first person Melita had swapped this card with, probably no shortage of others after me.

Random Act of Smiliness - Majorca from Eileen

Lucky Eileen vacations in Majorca every year. Lucky us, she thinks of my and the kids when she is away. This year she sent us each a card which are all wonderful. My card shows the stunning views of Cap Formentor, Will's is a silhouette of a bull which she writes are everywhere and Meghan's is a sweet girl in traditional dress, literally! A perfect trio, thank you Eileen!

OFFICIAL Card - England

Radek lives in Manchester, England (across the Atlantic Sea...couldn't resist!) and sent this great stadium card in Barcelona, Spain. With a seating capacity at just under 100,000 it is huge!

Sometimes the travel times on cards make you scratch your head and wonder. The postmark on this card is clear - March 10 and it arrived on the 23rd. But it "travelled" for 46 days as my address was drawn February 5. I know not everyone writes card right away and for myself it can sometimes be 2-3 days from when I draw an address to actually getting it in the mail, but a month? How long does it take you typically to mail a card?

Random Act of Smiliness - Spain from Susan

Susan and I met last summer at the Ingersoll Meet-up. She collected every one's addresses, e-mails, etc and distributed all this info out to all of us. At the time she said she was going to be travelling and would send cards. So it was a very nice surprise to receive this card from her in November from a trip she took with her husband to Spain. The card shows a view of Ronda. She writes that it is beautiful and has the oldest bullring in all of Spain. It was the home of one of the greatest bullfighters of all time, Pedro Romero. That is one sport I am not too sure if I could watch live. Thanks again Susan!

The saying "you learn something new everyday" is so true when it comes to Postcrossing. Maribel lives outside of Barcelona, Spain and sent me this map of Catalonia. She wrote telling me about herself and her life and ends with "hope you like this map of my country: Catalonia". In my ignorance I thought she had meant state or county, not as she wrote, country. Well, now that I am posting the card and doing my fact gathering I see that Spain does have 17 autonomous communities. Who knew? Obviously, not me! A great map and a lesson learned.

Anna tops the list of Spanish Postcrossers having sent a staggering 5,300 postcards in the past 6 years! I was delighted to get this card from her last week showing the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain. So kind of her to send me something that combines two of my favourite types of cards - The Olympics and stadiums. She wrote telling me she is originally from St. Petersburg, Russia. Where she lives now in Spain she sees thes sun 320 days of the year and it has 10km of beaches - good move!

Random Act of Smiliness - Eileen from England

Imagine my delight on Monday when I got the mail and found this card from Eileen. For no reason, other than to make me smile, she sent me this card from her holidays in Mallorca. She is there for a month and travels there every year. Jealous! Especially since we are in a heatwave and they are predicting temperatures with the humidity to be 43 C today. I could so dive into that beautifully blue water!

Aurora, a teacher from Spain sent me this card last October. The card shows views of Toledo, Spain. She wrote telling me Toledo is just south of Madrid and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site based on its cultural and religious importance. Love the colours in this card.

Eline in eastern Spain sent me this card last July. She wrote saying this is a typical street view in Spain - narrow houses painted in different colours. She also said that it really lightens things in the winter which can get pretty cold. That would be a fun sight to see during the long snowy days that we get here.
