Thank You - Claudia from Germany

Claudia and I have swapped a few times before. She recently was looking for cards with the Mona Lisa on them for a friend. Even I was surprised that I had one and could help her out. As a thank you she sent me this great map card of Germany also showing the coat of arms for the various states. The stamp and cancellation are icing on the cake. Thank you Claudia!

Thank You Card - Annemieke from Netherlands

Annemieke has a friend who is moving to Vancouver. She was collecting cards for her as a send off gift. I sent a few and in return Annemieke sent me these two wonderful card cards showing the various species of Forest Birds and Birds of Prey and Owls. Thank you Annemieke for the thank you!

I sent a birthday card to Samuel's Dad in Seychelles as a RAS. In return he sent me this card titled "Summer Collage" that he designed and sells here. It was a nice surprise to see his whole family signed it too. Thanks everyone!

I had a card that fit one of Annemieke's collections. As a thank you she sent me this fun owl card. She wrote that she often sees them in her area. She she was so kind as to send my owl loving daughter some cards too. Very sweet! Love the stamps she chose for me, the upper right is in braille - neat!

Thank You Card - Danut from Romania

I like to try and help other people out, even if it is in small ways. I believe those little acts of kindness towards others is what makes the world smile. Danut posted on-line that he had a friend who was new to Postcrossing. He was asking if anyone wanted to send a card to her to help get her started. Now I will be the first to admit it is nice if someone offers to send a card in return but really isn't necessary. The offer might be "expected" (it is just being polite after all) but not too often do I take people up on it. Sometimes, of course there are exceptions, like when a card just grabs my eye. Danut had just that card! It is from the Egg Museum in Moldovita. The website listed on the back, oddly didn't have much and nothing in English. The link is the best I can find. These miniature works of art are extraordinary!!! Thank you Danut for introducing me to this art!

Thank You Card - Nalini from Trinidad & Tobago

Everyone collects cards differently, some like written and stamped, others the exact opposite, blank and in an envelope. As you can imagine there is also everything in between. Nalini isn't picky and as such I sent her a few cards from her wish list in an envelope. In return, she sent me these beautiful views of Chaguaramas,
Trinidad and Speyside, Tobago. A complete and welcome surprise to see a little slice of her paradise.

Thank You Card - Stephen from Canada

Stephen and I connected via Facebook when I had some cards of Prince George to offer. He chose to send me a thank you card which was much appreciated. This card showing a vintage Toronto fire truck was on display at the CNE several years ago and Stephen had his photo made into cards, neat!

Thank You Card - Ellen from Canada

In January I drew Ellen's name and sent a card to her. I will be the first to admit that sometimes drawing a fellow Canadians address can be a bit daunting. I know I haven't travelled from coast to coast and have lived my life within a 75km radius (I know boring!) but you never know if that holds true for that person. Ellen had books as part of her wish list and I sent her this card which I thought fit that nicely. I must have hit the nail on the head as she sent me this beautiful card as a thank you. I ask people to share their favourite cookie with me and Ellen went one better, sharing the recipe - Chocolate Drops! Funny thing, I did visit Cathedral Grove about 20 odd years ago and somehow lost all my pictures from that trip. It is a beautiful spot, brought back many great memories. Also kind of odd, if Ellen used a stamp it went somewhere else, not even a trace of glue, who knows!

Thank You Card - Dulcey from USA

Sometimes you just want to help people out and send them a card, spread the love and make them smile. I had sent such a card I had to Dulcey in the beginning of the year. She in return wanted to send a card back to me to say thank you. I know that feeling too. As you may have heard me mention, perhaps more than once, it has been a really nasty winter here. Her card gave me a chuckle when it arrived - I could only wish we had such little snow! I don't even think a cat would want to hang out outside any longer than it had to the winds are that brutal. Thanks Dulcey for the card, the smile and the wishful thoughts that I might see a fencepost again!

Thank You Card - Andrea in Germany

I sent Andrea an official card back in July. A few weeks later I received this lovely card showing the coat of arms for the 16 States of Germany. What a wonderful surprise - thank you!

Thank You Card - Cardeaux from Germany

This card came as a complete surprise to me. I had sent Cardeaux a card back in April. I include my return address on all cards I send on the off chance they were to be returned to me as opposed to expiring if for some reason undeliverable They acknowledged it and let me know of their travels to my province of Ontario. Two months later this card came from them. The card shows industrial landmarks of their area which are now used for cultural events. You can read more about some of these places here. The red structure in the middle right was a coal mine and is now an UNESCO site. While they freely admit this type of art does not appeal to them I think these places look amazing and would love to be there in person one day.

Thank You Card - Christina from Greece

In April I sent Christina a card and wrote to her about which office towers I used to work in amongst other things. She really liked the card when she received it and asked for my address to send a thank you. It is hard sometimes to handle a request like that. I know I would love to send out more cards than I do to brighten peoples days but time and budget have to keep me focused. I figure if someone asks they are initiating it and while very nice I never expect it.

This card shows the Temple of Olympian Zeus in her hometown of Athens. This is exactly the type of image that comes to mind when I think of Greece. Beautiful card - thank you for the thank you!!!

Aliessia and I swapped cards awhile back. She liked the view card I sent her so much she followed up with a thank you card for me. Very sweet of her! She wrote telling me she was able to volunteer for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. That would have been a fun experience!

At the beginning of February I drew Eliette's name to send an official card to. I had just received an on-line order I had made and sent her this card, as she had asked for "funny/crazy" and I figured what was wackier that a cat doing yoga! She must have really like it as she sent me this lovely card of her hometown Nice, France. So very thoughtful of her - thank you for the thank you!

Thank You Card - Vadim from Russia

I sent Vadim a card at the end of August. It arrived in mid-September and he told me it was his first card from Canada. I was very pleasantly surprised to get this thank you card from him this week. He wrote that he noticed I like maps - how sweet! The cards shows lighthouses from the White Sea and the Russian stamp series to commemorate them. (Which I haven't been able to find much info on besides this page.) I also love this new Olympic stamp. I am really going to be looking forward to all the various stamps from the Sochi Games as I do get many cards from Russia. Thanks again Vadim for brightening my day!

Thank You Card - Ocean from Hong Kong

In August I sent Ocean an official card. She liked it so much that she sent me this as a thank you. How sweet! It is a view in Paris she tells me, not too sure what is written under the picture though. It is the smallest card I have ever received, measuring 3 1/2 x 4 inches - kind of like an old Polaroid. The stamp she used is wonderful!

Thank You Card - Cemre from Turkey

Last June I sent a card to Cemre. When he received it he asked if he could send me a card in return. He wrote telling me he is an amateur photographer and that his city, Istanbul, is very impressive. The card he chose for me shows Bosphorus and definitely saw some travel marks on it's way to me.

Thank You Card - Francoise from Beijing

Francoise was one of the first 10 people or so I sent a card to when I first joined Postcrossing last year. On her profile she stated she would send a thank you to anyone who included a return address. Last April, about a month after she received my card this stunning card arrived in my mailbox. Beautiful, and exactly how I remember parts of Beijing when I recall my trip. It shows her favourite street in the old part of  Beijing. On it is The Imperial Academy and close by she writes is The Temple of Confucius.

Thank You Card - Heather from Australia

Last May I sent an official card to Heather in Perth, Australia. At the time her profile said if you were to put your address on the card she would send you a thank you in return. Can't go wrong with that now can you. This is the card I received - a great shaped card of the Australian flag. Heather and I went on to do a couple of swaps after this so you will see more cards from her in future posts. The stamps while different from ours each remind me of a recent Canadian release.
