OFFICIAL Card - Finland

Sofia sent this card showing a "typical Finnish" couple from approximately 80 years ago. With the exception of the boots on the gentleman it could easily be a "typical" Canadian couple as well. She wrote to me about a previous trip to Canada and shared some warm thoughts about some recent current events here in my province. Very much appreciated to know my country is in others thoughts.

OFFICIAL Card - Finland

I must admit I really wasn't in to kids at all before I became a mother. Had never held a baby (since I was a baby/child) until my daughter was born. So it does come as a bit of a surprise to me how much I enjoy getting cards with pictures of children. And this card from Hilkka in northern Finland showing a little Sami girl in her national costume is no exception. I just want to pinch those cheeks!

OFFICIAL Card - Finland

Hanna is a school teacher in Turku, Finland. She sent this card to me on the first day of school which also happened to be her birthday. Flags flying in the breeze like this always show such strength.

OFFICIAL Card - Finland

Gertrud lives in Helsinki, Finland and sent me this great card which I received on Monday. It shows, as she describes the "idyllic" Postbacken Museum in Porvoo. The buildings date back to the 18th and 19th century and almost all on on their original sites. Looks like it would be a very interesting place to explore. Haven't seen a Moomin stamp in awhile - they are fun!

OFFICIAL Card - Finland

Last August this card from Lea in Pori, Finland arrived. The views are of a small town called Ulvila and show a church and its bridge as well as the Friitala's leather factory, a 100+ year company. Also, Lea used another Moomin stamp - I am starting to see a small collection growing.

OFFICIAL Card - Finland

The kids have started sending cards again so while there has been activity in our mailbox until today it hasn't been for me. This gem comes from Pirkko in Finland. How sweet is this little girl! The card reminds me of my daughter at that age which was only a few years ago. What I like is the printed statement on the back of the card - "Greeting from the snowy fairy-tale forest" - that just sounds so dreamy. Pirkko also mentions this girl is from Lapland.  The card definitely received some travel lines on its way to me which in this case is unfortunate as it is right across the main attraction! You can see it here before it left Finland - thank you Pirkko for scanning!

OFFICIAL Card - Finland

I received this card from Mira in Finland in the middle of February. It is advertising the Finnish Event "Nordisk Biblioteksuge" which is "Nordic Library Week". This card is from the event in 2007. Great card, especially for me, as I am at our local library at least twice if not more a week.
